"At One on One Physical Therapy, I have the chance to get to know my patients and work alongside my mentors... I value the professional collaboration and exchange of ideas that occurs here daily."

Amanda, also know as Mandy, is a magna cum laude graduate of The University of Georgia, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Exercise and Sport Medicine, and a Graduate Certificate in Gerontology. She also holds a Doctor of Physical Therapy Degree with Honors from Emory University.

It was an experience in the gym of a Macon rehabilitation center that shaped Mandy’s career path from a young age. She watched a Physical Therapist training her grandfather to walk again after a stroke. From that moment on, she stayed on the path to PT school.

As a dancer and great lover of the arts, Mandy decided to specialize in dance medicine. She finds great joy in treating these special and complicated artists. She provided Physical Therapy coverage for the cast of J.M. Barrie’s Peter Pan production during their performance run in Atlanta. She also treats dancers from Metropolitan Ballet Theater, Gwinnett Ballet, The Atlanta Ballet as well as smaller, independent companies throughout Atlanta. In addition to therapy, Mandy does consultation work on injury prevention and nutrition for dancers and dance organizations, including Project Dance and Dance ATL.

Mandy is an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association, Orthopaedic Section, Performing Arts Special Interest Group, and the International Association for Dance Medicine and Science. She is also a member of the Pilates Method Alliance, and is a Pilates Method Alliance Certified Pilates Teacher, and a Polestar trained Pilates Instructor. Mandy’s clinical skills include training to teach Redcord Neurac. She is also a Certified Manual Trigger Point Therapist and is trained to perform Trigger Point Dry Needling.

Mandy is a Clinical Assistant Professor in Mercer University’s Doctor of Physical Therapy Program, teaching Anatomy, Applied Anatomy and Orthopaedic courses. She sits on the board for EDIN, the Eating Disorder Information Network, an Atlanta non-profit organization.

Mandy received Dance Medicine Training through the Harkness Center for Dance Medicine at New York University Hospital for Bone and Joint Disease, and has served on the Faculty for the Atlanta Ballet Center for Education Summer Intensive Program. She has published book reviews for the Orthopaedic Section of the American Physical Therapy Association. Mandy additionally provides physical therapy coverage for professional and amateur volleyball tournaments in the Southeast.

Prior to joining One on One, Mandy worked as a staff Physical Therapist for Physiotherapy Associates in Tucker, Georgia. One on One Physical Therapy is a practice that allows Mandy to provide her patients with comprehensive, holistic treatment, opportunities to develop her dance medicine practice and a chance to work alongside her mentors.

In her spare time, Mandy enjoys dancing, concerts, UGA football games, Thrashers games, and spending time at the park with her dog, Lola.
