Barbara is an honors graduate of Emory University School of Medicine, Atlanta Georgia, with a Doctor of Physical Therapy, and Special Electives in Advanced Pediatrics and Advanced Orthopedics. She additionally holds a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from The College of William and Mary, Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia.
Prior to joining One on One, Barbara worked as a Physical Therapist at The Sports Rehabilitation Center, with a focus on sports related injuries, and also served as a Manager and Volunteer Coordinator.
Barbara is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association, Orthopedic Section, and a member of the Physical Therapy Association of Georgia. Barbara is also a Pilates Method Alliance Certified Pilates instructor, and is Polestar trained. She has served as a guest lecturer for the Doctorate of Physical Therapy program at Georgia State University, and is a Clinical Instructor for the Doctorate of Physical Therapy program at Emory University. She has provided physical therapy coverage for various professional and semi-professional athletic events in the southeast. Barbara continues professional education with an emphasis on manual therapy techniques.
Barbara was born in Sicily, and grew up overseas. As an added specialty, Barbara is fluent in Italian and French, and also familiar with Arabic and Spanish. Barbara is married to Woody Vaughan and recently gave birth to her daughter, Aurelia Cecilia Vaughan. Barbara enjoys outdoor activities, including running, mountain biking, and rollerblading with her Doberman pinscher, Nero. She also enjoys playing tennis, volleyball, and scuba diving.
One on One Physical Therapy enables Barbara to practice quality physical therapy for an entire hour, interacting with only one patient per hour. She enjoys practicing in an environment where information and knowledge is readily exchanged amongst her colleagues. It is a professional environment where she has the opportunity to thoroughly and completely treat patients, and progress them to an independent means of functionality and recreational activity.
